I love antiques! I visit many live auctions and have collected many vintage and antique items. My favorites are cast iron, copper, brass and rod iron items. I found this site while I was researching an item I recently purchased at a local auction, which I believe is a 1890's Cong Bell Toy.
I hope I'm not going to burst a bubble. While the rust may make this toy look a hundred years old, this toy is a recent reproduction of a bell toy called "The Acrobats" by Gong Bell. The original dates to the 1800s. The design of the original was probably by Mr. Perkins. He designed many Gong Bell toys based on the Barnum circus. There was a similar toy with just one dancing figure called "The Tramp." There is an article I wrote on reproduction bell toys on this web site.
