Chris,

Your Great Grandfather was a jack of all trades. He was making casket trimmings, ran a mortuary, was active in church and politics, and made bell toys. He was active with the East Hampton Bell Company in it's infancy, and the dam in town behind the East Hampton Bell Company was named after him. It's still there, as is his house that overlooks it. His son was working in his own firm for a while making bell toys. He later joined his father's company. At one point they were working on projects with N.N. Hill. Later N.N. Hill was cursing the Watrous and Kirby companies for copying one of N.N. Hill's toys. I have a petition he signed to the Railroad company trying to get them to put in a trestle instead of an earthen embankment. It must have been successful as early photos show a trestle. Later all the trestles were converted to earthen embankments.

What have you found in your research?

Life is good,

Bob

Life is good,
